Old Snake

An expert in sneaking mission's who has saved the world on numerous occasions from the threat of the Metal Gear nuclear armed bipedal walking tanks. Snake is a clone from the cells taken from the body of Big Boss. After retiring from the US Special Forces unit FOXHOUND, he lived as a recluse in Alaska, later founding the anti-Metal Gear NGO "Philanthropy". He disappeared afther the Big Shell Incident, but has now returned at the request of Campbell to terminate Liquid Ocelot. Although only in his 40's, his body is rapidly aging for reasons unknown.

Otacon + MK.II

A noted authority in robotics and a genius hacker. Octacon took part in a top-secret ArmsTech project funded by the Pentagon's black budget to develop Metal Gear REX,a weapon of mass destruction. Haunted by guilt, he joined Snake in forming "Philanthropy". Believing that Metal Gear technology could be used for peaceful purposes to save lives, Octacon teamed up with Sunny to develop Meatl Gear MK.II and follows Snake around, providing mission support.

Sunny

A young girl held captive by the Patriots, a shadowy organization thats secretly controls the US. Her mother was Olga Gulrukovich, member of a private Russian army. Sunny was rescued by Raiden and entrusted to Snake and Otacon.

Roy Campbell

The former commander of FOXHOUND. After retirement, Campbell joined a UN Security Council advisory body that monitors and inspects PMCs (Private Military Companies). Through his work, he discoverd that Liquid Ocelot was once again preparing to launch an insurection, to realize his old dream of creating a world of unlimited war. He asked Snake to teminate Liquid and put a stop to his plans. Campbell is well-versed in conflicts around the world and can provide choppers and other means of transportation. According to official records, he is Meryl's uncle

Drebin + Little Gray

A black-market weapons dealer whose business ventures span the globe. Not only does Drebin sell weapons and ammo, he is the world's one and only "gun launderer," able to remove the locks on ID guns that can normally be used only by the registered owner. He's addicted to the soft drink NARC and always carries a can with him. "Drebin" is the name given to an entire network of mysterious weapond dealers; this Drebin is number 893. He is never seen without his partner, a monkey called Little Grey.

Liquid Ocelot

The head of "Outer Heaven", the mother company that secrelty controls the world's five largest PMCs. His body is that of Revolver Ocelot, a spy for the Patriots. Ocelot lost his right arm on Shadow Moses and replaced it with that of Liquid Snake, another clone of Big Boss, only to have Liquid's personality take over his mind. After years in hiding, he has finally re-emerged in the Middle Eastern war zone, planning to launch an insurretion.

Naomi Hunter

A geneticist specializing in nanotechnology-based gene therapy. Maomi is the designer of the FOXDIE assassination virus, which kills targets with specific genetic makeups. She modified the virus against the CIA's orders, and was sent to federal prison when this came to light. She is now held captive by Liquid and forced to research a way to hijack the SOP battlefield control system.

Raiden

A cyborg soldier clad in a full-body armored exoskeleton. During the 2009 Big Shell incident , Raiden was used as a test subject for the Patriots' S3 Project, meeting Snake, Vamp, and Olga Gurlukovich in the process. He learned of the Patriot's existence as the manipulated him behind the scenes and set out to rescue Olga'a daughter Sunny form thier clutches; only to disappear afterwards. He fought in the Liberian civil war as a child soldier.

Big Mama

A Cold War-era female spy who fought alongside Big Boss in Operation Snake Eater posing as the KGB agent EVA. She was actually a spy for the Chinese People's Liberation Army and disappeared soon afterward.

Vamp

A knife expert from Romania. Vamp was once a member of Dead Cell, a counter-terriost training unit in the US Navy Seals. He helped Solidus Snake take over the Big Shell and killed Otacon's stepsister Emma; but was killed himself by sniper fire from Raiden. Presumed dead at the bottom of New York Bay, he's returned from the depths to challange Snake once again.
